July is almost gone, and throughout next month many kids will start returning to school. Which means now is a great time to see what fun family events are happening in our community! From a food festival for the little ones at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum to a treasure hunt on the pier, you and your kids can enjoy some fun in our community this weekend!
Children’s Food Festival
The Children’s Food Festival will take place on Saturday, July 25th from 11am until 4:30pm. Admission is free and the event takes place at the Children’s Museum. Kids of all ages can meet local farmers, learn how to grow their own food, and find out about composting and food science. There will be several hands-on activities that teach kids about cooking local cuisines and meals from around the world. The event is presented by Brooklyn Supported Agriculture. Bring the whole family for a day of food-related fun!
Hooked on Red Hook Treasure Hunt
The Hooked on Red Hook Treasure Hunt Park and Pier Clean-up takes place on Saturday, July 25th from 1pm to 4pm. Admission is free to everyone and is happening at Louis Valentino Jr. Park and Pier. You and your kids can wear your best nautical costumes, thin pirates, mermaids, sea creatures, anything! You then get to complete to find the strangest treasures imaginable all along the waterfront. There will be prizes or best costumes and the best hauls. There will be discounted meals and refreshments, as well as free prizes. Community partners taking part include Sunny’s, Steve’s Key Lime Pies, StreetPlus, and Red Hook Lobster pound. You can sign up ahead of time on the Good Standing app to get a badge too.
