Free Orchestra Performance
You and the whole family can enjoy a FREE Youth Orchestra Performance in Bedford-Stuyvesant. This will feature performances by acclaimed cellist Sujari Britt. The show starts at 5pm at the St. Philip’s Episcopal Church on 334 MacDonough Street. This will be a collaboration with the String Orchestra of Brooklyn, with local children from across the city. You can see the results of youth mentorship, music education, and the importance of access to classical music for communities. Open to everyone, so don’t miss out!
Memorial Day Concert
You can bring the whole family to the Green-Wood’s Memorial Day Concert on Monday, May 25th from 2pm until 4pm. The event is free, but there is a suggested donation of $10 per registered person. The concert performance takes place at Green-Wood Cemetery on 500 25th Street. This is the 26th year of the concert, and celebrates the 250th anniversary of the United States. Be sure to bring a blanket, and picnics are welcome! The music will be performed by the ISO Symphonic Band at Third Street, and is led by Musical Director Paul Corn and guest conductor Brian P. Worsdale. The performers will be members of the Green-Wood community, and a diverse range of composers.
Shoes Off Improv
Need to laugh? You can check out Two Much Fun, a Shoes Off Improv performance by an all-Asian local improv troupe. The show takes place Saturday, May 24th from 7pm to 8:30pm, and admission is only $10. This takes place at The Rat NYC on 68-117 Jay Street. This celebrates the troupe’s 2nd anniversary, and there will be comedic performances, games, and prizes! There will also be karaoke and more.
