Long Island History Hunt
From now through September 30th, you can take part in the Long Island History Hunt, a free event that lets you take part in a scavenger hunt across multiple museums and locations. The event is free and open to everyone, and you can be entered into a drawing to win $500 or a free luncheon at the Ketcham Inn Tavern.
Fishing Frenzy
You and your family can take in Fishing Frenzy Fridays from 2pm to 4:5pm from now through September 26th. The event is free and provides a chance to learn all about fishing in Jamaica Bay. All supplies will be provided, including bait and fishing rods. Each session has a limit of 15 rods, so families and groups should share one. You can register ahead of time to hold your place!
Cypress Hills Farmstead
Looking for local foods and veggies grown by community members? Then check out the Cypress Hills Farmstand each Friday from 9am until 2pm, now through November 22nd. Hosted by GrowNYC and Cypress Hills LDC, this provides affordable and fresh fruits and vegetables grown in your community. There will also be other local goods. You can also apply for SNAP and make appointments for other NYC public benefits.
Carousel Party
Today from 5:30pm until 7:30pm you and your family can attend the Climate Families Carousel Party for People and Plant. Admission is $35, there will be unlimited carousel rides, treats, pizza, a silent auction, face painting, and a live performance from Hila The Earth. This raises money to support climate action, and an auction will be hosted to support aid for asylum seekers and their families who are facing deportation or detention. Tickets should be purchased ahead of time, and the event takes place at 452 Flatbush Avenue.
